April showers bring June flowers??

The world of fashion seems to be in full bloom. From basic to more abstract, floral designs have put a major stamp on accessories and apparel.

Recently quite a few celebs have been spotted out and about sporting their intepretation of this hot trend.
Blake Lively; Rihanna; Nicole Richie; Serena Williams
I even spotted an example of this trend in action while I was out this weekend:

I just thought this skirt worn by Mecca from Urban Outfitters and the top worn by Aamira from Express were just too cute!
My on-line window shopping produced quite a few cute trend-right options that are just right for this warm weather we're all enjoying.

I also came across a few floral-inspired accessories which caught my eye as well:

And fellas don't think I forgot about you all either.

I thought this shirt from Armani Exchange was a nice subtle take on the floral trend, just right for a man who isn't ready to go all out. It comes in blue, as well as white.

This weekend I also attended the launch of Beautiful Disaster handbags. Created by Jamiee & Jessica.

I'm always about supporting up and coming fashion endeavors. Good luck to you ladies!

Item of the Week

So I was enjoying one of my favorite hobbies, on-line window shopping, and I came across an item I felt worthy of discussion.

The paint-your-own-baguette handbag from Fendi.
The bag comes with a removable shoulder strap and coated canvas perfect for creating a masterpiece of your own with the 10 markers they provide. At $1,300 I cannot imagine having to create my own design. This bag takes creating your own style to a whole other level! The box it comes in is kind of hot though!

What do you all think??

Bring on the Heat

Although I personally prefer to frolic about the city in classy short shorts when the temperaure rises, summer dresses are a number one must have for any girl living in a city where the temperature rises above 70 degrees for more than one day in a row.

From trapeze, to sheath, to shift, to maxi, to linen, to silk, cotton blends and back again; summer dresses come in all silhouettes, lengths and fabrications. Here are a couple of my favorites.

R.I.P.

Arguably one of the best designers to touch the hem of a garment, Yves Saint Laurent passed away Sunday June 1st after a longterm battle with brain cancer at his Paris home. Laurent began his career in fashion during the 1950s working under the tutalidge of Christian Dior. YSL is most well known for the mark he made on ready-to-wear.

And for what may be a lesser known fact, YSL was the first designer to feature African American models in his runway shows; that alone makes Laurent a designer to be remembered and reveared in my mind.

I'd like to pay tribute to Yves Saint Laurant by highlighting one of my favorite YSL designers: the Muse handbag.

May Saint-Laurent rest in peace.

Weekend Recap

The premise of this post can be summed up in 4 magical words:

Sex in the City

Every fashionista, fashion addict, and fashion follower should have seen this movie by now; and if not, shame on you! I'll admit it, I was never a serious fan of the show, in fact I don't think I ever watched a full episode, all I knew is that the rise of the Manolo Blahnik could almost single handedly be due to Carrie Bradshaw.

As to be expected, the wardrobing in this movie was absolutely fabulous, at times even breathtaking. I can think of several scenes where I got goosebumps from the sheer eyecandy up on the big screen. From Carolina Herrera to Christian LaCroix, it appeared that every premier designer label got their 15 minutes out of this movie.

I wouldn't be surprised though if one brand in particular receives more shine than others: Christian Dior, due to the city sandals Carrie can be seen wearing several times throughout the film.

These sandals are pretty chic if I may say so myself, especially in time for summer. I can just see the knock-offs already.

Since I know that no post I put up can even do this movie justice, I'll leave you with this, go get Carried away already!
